What Is The Gospel?

The Gospel is Good News!  To appreciate the good news though, you need to know the bad news.  We are sinners.  Many people have heard of the Ten Commandments.  If not you can look up Exodus 20:1-17.  The Bible tells us if we are guilty of breaking one law, we are guilty of breaking the whole law. God demands perfection and none us are capable of it.    Romans 3:10-18 states the case very plainly:  on our own, none of us are righteous, none seek after God.  Romans 3:23 says we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  Later on we learn in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death, (but now the good news!) but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  The good news is often shared by the use of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”  Jesus died to pay for our sins.  His blood was shed so we could have forgiveness of sins.  But on the third day God raised Him from the dead, and gave Him victory over the grave, and we can have that too.  That’s the good news!  Jesus paid it all!  SO what must you do to be saved?  Romans 10:9-10 says, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”   To recognize that Jesus is Lord, is simple enough, but it’s life changing.  Jesus is to be Lord of our life, and we are to Repent (change our attitude towards; to turn away from) of our Sins.  We are to become His disciples and follow Him.

If you have never come to this point, don’t delay!  2 Corinthians 6:2 tells that now is the day of salvation!  We are not promised tomorrow, so get right with God today!  If you have any questions about this, please ask!  And if you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please let me know so I can pray for you and point you in the right direction as you seek to grow in your knowledge of Him.  God Bless.
